How do you tell the difference between diet and regular coke?
I am diabetic and I’d like to know what to look out for when I ask for diet coke in restaurants, I am sure the often give me regular. Just differences in taste and appearance please, without using a test strip. Thanks(:

A friend has the same problem and you’re right, they do get it wrong quite often. The sweetener has an after-taste. Coke has a LOT of sugar in it. A sip should be all you need. If you cant tell or dont trust the place, drink something else and drink diet coke places where you see it come out of the bottle or can and be safe at restaurants and drink something else.

appearance is more or less the same, but if u take a small sip of diet, u will notice an after taste, kind of chemically (which is the sweetener)…regular coke will taste a lot sweeter….and diet to me always tastes more ‘fizzy’

The appearance is the same, but the taste is definitely different. Try ordering it without ice so it will be easier to taste the difference.
Regular coke spills are also sticky because of the sugar residue. Spill some out on a plate and wipe it with a napkin, if the plate feels sticky, then it is a regular coke.
Coke has a ton of sugar and caffeine in it diet is just less sugar but more caffeine
I haven’t drinken (drank? drunken? SP) regular Coke in a looong time, but to me diet Coke is very bitter and usually has an odd aftertaste and regular Coke is really sweet.
there is an extreme difference in the sweetness of the two. u should be able to tell in one sip.
It tells you which one is in the bottle on the label
