What type of work out and diet is required to get lean?
I am 5′ 7″a and about 140 lbs, I go to the gym about 2 to 3 times a week and eat fairly healthy. I am not aiming to get big I just want to be tone. Is there any good work out and diet that can help with that?
Chosen Answer:
If your objective is either to get big or just to tone, you should first of all eat more protein.
Sometimes that alone will help, but the BIG tip I’m going to give you can and will help you:
Do not exhaust yourself during exercises.
Yep, that’s it!
Why?
Because if you exhaust yourself your body (which is still wired to the caveman ages) will think that you are in a survival situation and will start burning muscles to use as fuel!
That’s why you see people who jog regularly that are not getting leaner or thinner.
To avoid triggering this survival mechanism you should eat a snack an hour to half an hour before training and maybe another a half an hour after.
This will “trick” your body into thinking that food supplies are easily available and doesn’t need to burn your muscle to use as fuel.
Then when you exercise you should never exhaust yourself.
Workout at a pace that will be between 75% to 85% of your energy level.
If you would like to know more about the fact that your body burns your muscle here’s an audio report I made that talks about the basics of metabolism:
